A reader recently emailed asking for some advice.
He and his wife had a wedding anniversary coming up and he wanted to surprise her with lingerie. She is a UK size 20 with a 40DD bust, and he was looking for something very revealing and strappy like a piece he had seen from the brand Me Seduce.
He couldn’t find anything quite like it on my site and wanted to know what I would recommend.
It’s actually a very common question.
Buying lingerie as a gift can feel surprisingly difficult, especially when you want something that feels bold and exciting rather than just safe.
The style he sent is usually called strappy or harness-style lingerie.
Brands like Me Seduce make beautiful versions of these pieces, but there is one challenge that often appears when you look at sizing.
Most of their designs run up to around UK 18–20, and because these pieces use very little fabric, they often fit tighter than expected on fuller curves.
For someone with a 40DD bust, the straps can sometimes sit awkwardly or feel restrictive.
That doesn’t mean curvier women can’t wear strappy lingerie.
It simply means the design needs to have the right balance of stretch and structure.
Instead of a minimal harness piece, a strappy bodysuit usually works far better.
You still get the dramatic, revealing look, but the bodysuit gives the design a little more stability across the bust and torso.
That small difference can make the piece much more flattering and comfortable.
In this case, I suggested a YESX strappy bodysuit, which creates the same striking effect while being cut with fuller curves in mind.
For a UK size 20 with a 40DD bust, the 3XL/4XL size in that style tends to provide the best fit.
When someone chooses a bold piece of lingerie like this, the styling around it can make a big difference.
Many customers pair a strappy bodysuit with classic sheer black hold-ups to finish the look.
A simple sheer leg keeps the outfit elegant and balanced rather than adding too many competing details.
For fuller figures, choosing plus-size hold-ups is usually the safest option so the silicone band sits comfortably on the thigh.
Most people worry about choosing the wrong style.
In reality, the most important thing is choosing something designed for the person wearing it.
Once the fit and structure are right, even very revealing lingerie can feel flattering, confident and exciting to wear.
And when it’s chosen thoughtfully — like an anniversary surprise — that attention usually matters more than anything else.
