A Cross-Dresser’s Love of Wearing Hosiery

I’m a cross-dresser, and I love wearing hosiery.
Stockings and hold-ups make me feel calm, comfortable, and more like myself.

I’ve bought a few pairs from your site over time, and honestly, I think they’re lovely. They fit well, feel right on my body, and have become part of how I relax at home.

I mostly wear them in private, but sometimes I wonder what it really means that this matters so much to me.

Is this just something I enjoy —
or does loving hosiery say something deeper about who I am?

I’ve included a couple of photos because they show what I mean better than words — this isn’t about performance, it’s about how these pieces actually live with me.

My answer

What you’re describing is more common than people admit.

Hosiery isn’t just fabric.
For some people, it becomes a way of feeling settled in their body.

You’re not wearing these pieces to shock anyone.
You’re wearing them because they let you breathe a little easier inside yourself.

That matters.

Some people find that certain clothes:

  • soften them

  • steady them

  • help them recognise themselves in the mirror

That can happen with suits, dresses, boots, lingerie — anything.

The clothing itself isn’t the meaning.
The meaning comes from how it lets you exist.

You’re not trying to become someone else.
You’re trying to feel like yourself.

That’s the opposite of pretending.

Being a cross-dresser doesn’t have to mean one fixed story.
For some, it’s about identity.
For others, it’s about comfort.
For others, it’s about expression, play, or calm.

You don’t have to pick one explanation and live inside it forever.

What matters more than the label is this:

Does wearing hosiery help you feel more at ease in your body?
Does it bring calm rather than conflict?
Does it feel chosen, not forced?

If the answer is yes, then it doesn’t need fixing.

Not every part of you has to be public.
Some things live best in safe, chosen spaces — where there’s no pressure to perform or explain.

You don’t owe the world a definition.
You only owe yourself honesty.

And if hosiery helps you feel more at home in yourself,
that’s not strange — that’s meaningful.

This is one story about stockings and hold-ups. If they keep coming up for you — as comfort, identity, choice, or self-expression — this page brings those stories together:
