Does “Power Lingerie” Actually Give You Power?

“Power” is one of the most overused words in lingerie. Every brand promises it. Every campaign sells it.
So I decided to test it properly.

Not in a studio.
Not in a fantasy.
But in real life.

I chose one piece from our POWER Collection to see if clothing can actually change how you feel—and what it makes you do.

The Piece I Chose

I picked the YesX  Lingerie YX889 leather-look corset crop top.

Why this one?

Because it sits right on the line between:

  • lingerie

  • fashion

  • and “what are you up to tonight?”

It has structure like a corset, but wears like a top. Strong lines. Lace-up front. Glossy leather-look fabric. It doesn’t whisper. It doesn’t flirt.

It leads.

Dinner. Just a normal evening out.

This top doesn’t hide.

So I didn’t try to tame it.

I wore it with:

a high-waisted black skirt, just below the knee
my favourite heels — the ones that change my posture the second I put them on
no jacket, no cardigan, no softening it

The corset was the point.

Strong shoulders. Clean lines. That shine that catches light when you move.

Underneath, I kept it simple:

a black soft-cup bra
a comfortable brief

No hold-ups that night — this wasn’t about lingerie as a secret.
It was about letting the top do the talking.

This wasn’t a “lingerie moment.”
It was an outfit.

The kind you wear when you don’t want to disappear into the room — but you’re not trying to perform either.

I didn’t feel dressed up.

I felt deliberate.

The Husband Test

He noticed before I said anything.

Not because of how I looked—but how I moved.

He said I felt:

  • calmer

  • sharper

  • harder to read

When we got home and the skirt came off, the hold-ups were already there.

I didn’t announce them.
I didn’t perform.

I just stood there.

And that’s when I realised:

Power lingerie isn’t about seduction.
It’s about control.

Not over someone else—over the moment.

So What Are These Lingerie Pieces Really For?

These corsets aren’t everyday lingerie.
They’re not soft.
They’re not sweet.

They’re for:

  • nights when you want to feel decisive

  • moments when you don’t want to blend in

  • times when you want your body to remind you who’s in charge

You can:

  • wear them out

  • layer them

  • take them home

  • reveal them later

But the real point isn’t what others see.

It’s what you feel before they do.

How This Differs from Other Corsets

These aren’t like soft lace corsets or romantic bedroom pieces.

They’re:

  • structured

  • bold

  • visual

  • intentional

They don’t decorate your body.
They define it.

That’s why they belong in the POWER Collection.

Abbie's verdict

Did it give me power?

Yes—but not in a dramatic, movie-scene way.

It gave me:

  • stillness

  • confidence

  • presence

It didn’t make me sexy.
It made me certain.

Would I wear it every day?

No. It’s not “me” all the time.

But on the nights I want to feel unshakeable?

On the nights I don’t want to ask—I want to choose?

I’d wear it again.
