Mini facials can be calming and relaxing as well as invigorating and uplifting, and you can do this yourself in the comfort of your own home using the steps below.
Here’s what you’ll need:-
A cleanser-
Exfoliator -
Large bowl -
Mask-
Toner (if you have)-
Serum or face oil-
Eye cream or serum -
Moisturiser-
Cotton wool rounds or squares -
Tissue
CLEANSE
Rinse your face with lukewarm water. Warm a hazelnut-sized amount of cleanser between the palms of both hands, work the cleanser over the skin in upward, circular motions with your fingers. Carry this out for at least a few minutes. Medium pressure is good here, to stimulate and give your facial muscles a lifted and toned appearance. Rinse with lukewarm water. Gently pat skin dry with a washcloth/ towel or tissue. Repeat if necessary. If wearing heavy makeup, your 1st cleanser could be micellar water.EXFOLIATE
An often forgot about, but important step. Exfoliating your skin will make your skin look fresher, brighter and feel silky soft. It will also enable the following products to absorb more fully to work to their full ability, and not become hampered by dead skin cells. Technique: This will vary depending on the type of exfoliator you have. Be sure to read the instructions on the packaging.
STEAM
How to steam: Bring water to a boil and place in a large pot. Drape a towel over your head and slowly lean your face over the pot so that your face is directly over the steam (be careful not get too close!). It should feel warm, not hot. You can get creative with your steam — add rosemary, thyme, or any other herbs. Or a few drops of essential oils, if you have any, are lovely, too! Steam for 10-15 minutes, with intermittent breaks if you need (if you have sensitive skin or rosacea, steaming may not be ideal for you).MASK
The treatment mask is the heart of any facial. This is when the skin is most ready to receive potent ingredients and nutrients.Apply and leave for about 10/15 mins (this may vary depending on the mask you use). Set a timer, place cotton pads, dampened with cold water or eye makeup remover, over your eyes and then relax during this time. Remove as per the specific mask. Finish with a splash of cool water.
TONE
Apply toner on 2 dry cotton discs and sweep over the face and neck with upwards movements. Blot dry with a tissue.EYE PRODUCT
Warm about the size of a small pea between the 2 ring fingers and apply to the bone around the eyes in a gentle pressing motion, outwards around the eyes and above and beneath until absorbed.MASSAGE & MOISTURISE
Facial massage is a great way to tone and lift the appearance of the skin, relieve tension, and drive the active ingredients in deeper, giving your skin some love!Take a generous amount of product, to ensure there is no “drag” on the skin, warm between the palms of both hands. Smooth over face and neck. Using relatively firm pressure, massage over the face in an upward circular or sweeping motions for a good 2/3 minutes. This will stimulate the circulation bringing fresh oxygen and nutrients into the upper levels of the skin, and will also aid the absorption of the moisturiser. Blot with a tissue if needed.
TREAT WITH SERUM
Warm about the size of a hazelnut between the palms of both hands, apply to face using the whole of the hands to press into skin, repeat until applied to the entire face. Using your fingertips gently, but rapidly, tap over the face until the serum has completely absorbed. This will stimulate the circulation and bring fresh oxygen and nutrients into the upper levels of the skin, and will also aid the absorption of the serum.
